How to choose a built-in microwave: niche, capacity and features
This category includes built-in microwave ovens from Whirlpool, Electrolux and Candy: 20, 25 and 31 l, most with a grill, in black, stainless steel and Urban Beige. Some models are in our warehouse in Riga and available right away. The cards show the price with VAT and availability, and the list can be sorted by price. Built-in, freestanding or an oven with microwave
Built-in microwave ovens
Installed in a kitchen cabinet or a tall column above the oven, so the worktop stays free and the kitchen looks seamless.
Freestanding microwave ovens
They sit on the worktop or a shelf, no niche needed. A good choice if you are not changing the kitchen.
Ovens with a microwave function
One appliance for baking and microwave mode when there is room for only one niche.

Size and niche
- Width. Our models are 59.5 cm wide and designed for a 60 cm cabinet.
- Niche height. Most models need a niche about 38 cm high. The manufacturer gives the exact niche dimensions (height, width, depth) in the specifications and installation instructions.
- Position. The most comfortable height is at eye level, for example in a tall column above the oven.
- Connection. A socket accessible next to the niche is usually enough. Ventilation requirements are in the instructions.
Capacity: 20, 25 or 31 l
20 l is enough for reheating and defrosting for one or two people. 25 l is a versatile size for a family. A 31 l oven takes large plates and dishes and is more comfortable for cooking. Also compare the turntable diameter in the specifications.
Power and features
- Microwave power. 700-1000 W on our models: higher power heats food faster.
- Grill. Most of our models have one, for a browned crust.
- Crisp. A Whirlpool function with a special pan that gives a crispy base, for example for pizza.
- Automatic programmes. Defrosting by weight and sensor programmes that choose the time and power themselves.
The EU energy label does not apply to microwave ovens, so compare power, capacity and features in the specifications.

Frequently asked questions
Can a microwave be built in above an oven?
Yes, in a tall column this is a common combination. Check the niche dimensions and ventilation gaps in the installation instructions of both appliances.
Which capacity should I choose?
20-25 l is enough for reheating and defrosting. If you cook for a family or use large dishes, choose 31 l.
Can I put metal dishes in a microwave?
Usually not in microwave mode. The manufacturer says in the user manual what may be used in grill and Crisp mode.
Does a built-in microwave need a separate electrical circuit?
Usually not: a socket next to the niche is enough. The exact requirements are in the installation instructions.
