Top-loading washing machines: 40 cm wide for narrow spaces
With a top-loading washing machine you load the laundry through a lid on top. It is about 40 cm wide, so it fits where there is no room for a 60 cm machine or no space in front to open a door. Our range includes Whirlpool, Candy, Electrolux, AEG and Indesit models with a capacity of 6-8 kg.

The lid needs space above the machine, so it cannot go under a worktop or a low shelf. The hoses need space at the back.
How it works day to day
- Loading. Open the lid and the drum flaps and load from above without bending down.
- Drum. On many models the drum stops automatically with the flaps facing up after the cycle; on others you turn it by hand.
- Spin. The maximum spin speed of our models is 1000-1200 rpm.
What to consider before buying
- No dryer on top. If you need a dryer too, see washer dryers or a front-loading machine stacked with a tumble dryer.
- Smaller choice. There are fewer top-loading models on the market than front-loading ones.
- Energy class. Compare the electricity use per 100 cycles on the EU energy label; our models are class A-D.

Frequently asked questions
Which to choose: top loading or a slim front-loading machine?
If the space lacks width, choose top loading (about 40 cm). If it lacks depth but has 60 cm of width, choose a slim washing machine.
Does a top-loading machine wash as well?
Yes. The loading type alone does not decide washing quality: the model, programme, detergent and the right load do.
Can a dryer be placed on top?
No, because the lid opens upwards. A dryer can only be stacked on a front-loading machine.
Is a top-loading machine noisier?
Noise depends on the model, spin speed, installation and how the laundry is spread in the drum. Compare the spin noise in dB(A) and the noise class on the EU energy label.
