Ovens: from basic models to premium technology
Modern built-in ovens offer far more than classic baking. Practically every model has convection, but the differences in price and functionality come from the control technology, steam systems, the cleaning method, build quality and extra capabilities such as a microwave function.

Sizes and formats: 60 cm, 45 cm and narrow versions
The standard width is 60 cm, but other solutions are also in demand on the Latvian market:
- Compact ovens 45 cm high: suitable for kitchen columns or in combination with other appliances.
- Narrow ovens 45 cm wide: a solution for small kitchens (for example, in flats from the Soviet era), where a 60 cm module is not possible.
The choice often depends on the kitchen layout rather than on the range of functions alone.
An oven with a microwave function: does it replace a microwave oven?
Some models combine an oven and a microwave function in a single appliance. In everyday use such a solution fully replaces a separate microwave oven and saves space on the worktop.
Premium brands provide an even distribution of microwaves without a rotating plate. Combined modes (microwave + convection) significantly shorten cooking times.
If the priority is the simplest possible operation or very frequent reheating, a separate microwave oven may be more convenient. But where space is limited, this is a logical and technically sound solution.

The steam function: humidification or full steam?
The simplest models offer humidification, where water evaporates during baking. Full steam ovens have a separate water tank and controlled steam delivery, which gives a more professional result.

Frequently asked questions
Why does one oven cost €300 and another €2,000?
The cheapest models provide the basic functions. In the more expensive ones you are paying for more precise temperature control, better thermal insulation, pyrolysis, full steam, modern controls and build quality over the long term.
Is a Wi-Fi oven really necessary?
Wi-Fi is not an essential function, but it can be convenient. It lets you switch the oven on or control the cooking remotely, receive notifications and use automatic programmes. If you use the oven rarely, Wi-Fi will not be a significant advantage. If you cook regularly and want maximum control, it can be useful.
Is pyrolysis safe and how often is it used?
Pyrolytic cleaning is safe when the manufacturer's instructions are followed. During cleaning the door locks automatically and the dirt is burned to ash. Most users run pyrolysis a few times a year: depending on how intensively they cook.
