SaphirMatt: matte glass that scratches less
SaphirMatt is the Electrolux and AEG matte black glass-ceramic for hobs. It resists scratches better than standard glossy glass and reflects less light. This page has all our hobs with SaphirMatt and SaphirMatt SE.

What the manufacturer says
- Scratches. According to AEG, a SaphirMatt hob has up to 10 times fewer visible scratches than AEG standard glass without coating, SaphirMatt SE up to 3 times (external lab test to IEC 60068-2-70).
- Fingerprints. They are less visible on the matte surface; AEG states SaphirMatt SE models do not have this property.
- Look. Matte black glass does not reflect light like glossy glass, so it looks calmer in the kitchen.
How to care for it
Standard hob cleaning creams do not suit the matte surface: they leave marks. Use the cleaner the manufacturer recommends and a soft cloth, as described in the manual. Remove burnt-on food with a scraper made for glass-ceramic.
