Hob2Hood: how the hob controls the cooker hood
Hob2Hood is an Electrolux and AEG feature (AEG writes Hob²Hood). The hob uses an infrared signal to switch on the hood light and fan and adjust its speed to the way you cook. This page has all our hobs and cooker hoods with this feature.
Popular choices
Electrolux cooker hoods
All with Hob2Hood, 330-700 m³/h.
Electrolux hobs
Induction, also with SaphirMatt.
AEG hobs
Half of the models have Hob²Hood.
Hobs with integrated extractor
An alternative: the extractor is built into the hob itself.
How it works
- Signal. The hob and hood have infrared sensors. When you switch on a zone, the hood turns on its light and fan.
- Speed. Fan speed follows the cooking mode and the temperature of the hottest pan. Manufacturer default mode H5: light on, speed 1 for boiling, speed 2 for frying.
- Manual control. If you change the fan on the hood panel, automatic mode pauses until the hob is next switched on.
What to know before buying
- Both appliances need Hob2Hood. The feature works only if both the hob and the hood support it. They can be different models, even an Electrolux hob with an AEG hood.
- The feature must be activated. On most hoods Hob2Hood is off from the factory and is activated as described in the manual. On the hob the mode is chosen with the Hob2Hood button.
- A clear signal path. Nothing should block the line between the hob panel and the hood: tall pots, handles, direct sunlight or halogen light on the hood panel can disturb the signal.
