Televisions: 4K Smart TVs, OLED, QLED, Mini LED up to 100 inches
A modern television is a complete home entertainment centre. In Latvia the demand for 75", 85", 98" and 100" models is growing rapidly, because 4K resolution makes it possible to enjoy a large screen with no loss of quality.
1Store.lv offers LG, Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi and other brands of television with real availability in our warehouse in Riga and professional advice.
Smart TV and operating systems
Practically all new televisions are Smart TVs with Netflix, YouTube and other apps.
- LG: webOS
- Samsung: Tizen
- Sony / Xiaomi: Google TV or Android TV
When you choose a television, you are also choosing the speed of the system, the availability of apps and the functionality.
4K, HDR and picture quality
- 4K resolution: especially important for large screen sizes
- HDR, HDR10+, Dolby Vision: greater contrast and dynamic range
- Brightness (nits): essential for bright rooms
A premium model shows its full potential only with a good 4K HDR signal.
OLED, QLED, Mini LED, NanoCell, QNED: what is the difference?
- OLED: perfect blacks and the highest contrast.
- QLED: brighter colours and higher brightness (Samsung).
- Mini LED: more precise local dimming and brighter HDR.
- LG NanoCell: improved colour filtering with a wider viewing angle.
- LG QNED: a combination of NanoCell, Quantum Dot and Mini LED.
- Samsung Crystal UHD: improved LED picture processing in the budget segment.
IPS vs VA panel
- IPS: a wider viewing angle.
- VA: deeper blacks and higher contrast.
Which screen size should you choose?
75-85 inch televisions are becoming the new standard. When choosing a screen size, take into account the size of the wall, the width of the furniture and safe installation.
A television for a bright room
For bright living rooms a model with higher brightness and a good anti-reflective coating is recommended. QLED and Mini LED are often more suitable for very sunny rooms.
Improve the sound
For a large screen we also recommend adding a soundbar sound system for a complete cinema experience.
What are you paying for?
- A higher-quality panel
- A more powerful picture processor
- More precise local dimming
- Higher brightness for HDR content
Frequently asked questions
Are all new televisions Smart TVs?
Yes, practically all new models are Smart TVs with the most popular streaming apps.
Why do television prices differ so much?
The price is affected by the panel used, the backlight technology (LED, Mini LED, OLED), the picture processor, the brightness and the quality of the local dimming. More expensive models provide more precise contrast, brighter HDR and better motion processing.
How can I tell whether a television will be bright enough for my room?
For bright rooms a model with higher brightness (nits) and a good anti-reflective coating is recommended. If there is a lot of sunlight in the room, Mini LED or QLED will often be the better choice.
What is local dimming and does it matter?
Local dimming allows individual zones of the screen to become darker or brighter independently. The more zones there are, the more precise the contrast and the better the HDR effect. This technology works most effectively in Mini LED models.
